On April 19th, Huawei unveiled its pioneering plan for the Pura 70 series, introducing four models: Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro+, and Pura 70 Ultra.
Among them, the Pura 70 Pro and Pura 70 Ultra went on sale on the 18th, while the Pura 70 and Pura 70 Pro+ are set to hit the market on April 21st.
Today, analysis firm TechInsights released a report stating that the Mate 60 Pro series shipped 6.2 million units in China over five months (August to December 2023).
The Pura 70 series has an earlier release window and alleviated supply constraints, with shipments expected to surpass 10 million units in 2024, positioning it as a key competitor to the Apple iPhone 15 and 16 series.
The shipment volumes of Huawei's P series and Pura 70 are expected to be in the millions.
The agency predicts that in 2024, Huawei's smartphone shipments in China will exceed 50 million units, with a market share rising significantly from 12% in 2023 to 19% in 2024, reclaiming the top spot in the Chinese market.
TechInsights suggests that Huawei's strong rebound in the Chinese smartphone market will exert pressure on the iPhone.
In the first quarter of 2024, iPhone experienced a double-digit annual decline in the Chinese smartphone market, with the launch of the Pura 70 series intensifying competition between Apple and Huawei in this largest global smartphone market.
It is understood that the Huawei P series has now been fully upgraded to the Pura series.
The institution believes that Huawei's renaming of the sub-series to Pura is to align it with other sub-series names (such as Mate and Nova series) and to differentiate it from the previous P series.
