Huawei P70 Series Preview: King of Imaging Returns

Xiao Lu Tue, Mar 26 2024 06:26 AM EST

Industry insider @DigitalChatStation recently revealed that Huawei's P70 series, originally slated for a March release, has been postponed to April.

Meanwhile, @FocusDigital has claimed that the P70 series has surpassed the Mate 60 in terms of positioning, becoming one of Huawei's premier flagship lines. It's tasked with reclaiming the throne in the imaging arena. So, what dazzling innovations can we expect from the P70?

Based on current leaks, the Huawei P70 series will come in three variants: the P70 and P70 Pro will feature triangular camera modules, while the P70 Art will retain the irregular design from its predecessor, the P60 Art. Whether the aesthetics appeal is subjective, but the distinctiveness is undeniable. d3e76baf-ff21-43f1-864b-59dbfeedfb8e.jpg In terms of performance: The entire Huawei P70 series will adopt the same Kirin 9000S chip as the Mate 60 series, supporting functions such as 5G and satellite communication.

In terms of imaging: As the flagship of Huawei's mobile imaging series, the P70 series has achieved a significant breakthrough in imaging over the past three years. The Huawei P70 and P70 Pro will be equipped with an OV50H main camera sensor, supporting 50 million pixels, which means they have excellent image detail and clarity.

The top-of-the-line P70 Art will adopt Sony's IMX989 main camera sensor, featuring a large 1-inch sensor size, providing a larger photosensitive area. With the combination of variable aperture and Huawei XMAGE imaging technology, the imaging level of the Huawei P70 series is likely to "lead the way" once again.

In terms of system: The Huawei P70 series is likely to be the first to be equipped with the HarmonyOS Star River version operating system, which means it will completely break free from the constraints of the Android system and have stronger hardware and software integration. With perfect integration with the HarmonyOS system, the Huawei P70 series is expected to bring faster running speeds and a smoother user experience. ef6476a8-f425-449c-a2da-76ccd805a6ff.jpg

Furthermore, Huawei recently unveiled a patent CN117058725A, which pertains to Huawei's in-house developed ultrasonic fingerprint solution. It remains unknown whether the Huawei P70 series, expected in April, will incorporate this technology, but sources indicate that it may be implemented as late as the P80.
