On August 29, 2023, Huawei's official announcement hit the shelves declaring the official launch of the Huawei Mate60 series! Adhering to the principle of less words, bigger impact, the Mate60 series surprisingly hit the market. Dubbed as the "Vanguard Project" by the officials, it stands out as an exception in today's smartphone market, as there hasn't been a formal launch event yet.

Following suit, the nova12 series, Huawei's tone shifted to "joining the Vanguard Project," and a launch event was held for it. So, how will the upcoming Huawei P70 series make its debut?

Before the Huawei P70 series is officially unveiled, we've compiled the latest leaks about this product for everyone's interest. Feel free to discuss in the comments section if you're intrigued.

Exterior Design: As the product launch approaches, leaks about the Huawei P70 series' appearance have become clearer. The consensus points towards one direction: a triangular-shaped camera module.

For the P series, this is quite a pioneering design. With the continuous improvement in imaging capabilities and the increasing number of lenses, the P40 series adopted a rectangular camera module, the P50 series introduced the Dual-Ring camera module, and the P60 series featured a combination of rectangular and ring design.

In terms of color options, taking the recent P60 series as an example, the Coco White was a hit, while the Bora Bora Gray of the Pocket 2 also had its charm. 6cc90171-0175-4e44-abf5-8a33ee6516b0.jpg Looking at the evolution of previous generations of products, if the P70 series indeed adopts a triangular camera module as leaked in the images, it's not really surprising. The balance between ID (industrial design) and imaging configuration has always been ongoing. Ultimately, it's about meeting both design and configuration requirements. As for aesthetics, it tests Huawei's design prowess. However, after years of experience in the high-end market, whether it's the Mate series or the P series, Huawei has already established a distinctive design style. Their products have extremely high recognition in the market. b8c30a6d-ef02-4cee-a331-608fc502bfc6.png Especially with the P60 series, Huawei has crafted the ultra-premium "Art" line, similar to the Pro+ within the Mate series, further enhancing the brand image. Unlike the subtle refinement seen in the Mate series Pro+, Art takes a more bold and radical approach. The island design of the P60 Art initially drew criticism upon its release, but over time, it has become a classic within the P series. It's not hard to imagine what kind of product Huawei will present to consumers with the Art version of the P70 series.

Imaging Huawei's P series has always been renowned for its design and imaging capabilities, earning the label of an aesthetic imaging flagship, captivating numerous fashion and photography enthusiasts. With the upcoming P70 series set for release, undoubtedly, there will be significant imaging upgrades.

According to leaks from the well-known digital blogger Digital Chit-Chat Station, the Huawei P70 standard version and Huawei P70 Pro are expected to feature the domestically produced HuaWei OV50H sensor as the main camera, with a triangular camera module design. Meanwhile, the Huawei P70 Art is expected to utilize Sony's IMX989 one-inch sensor, with a rear camera module featuring an irregular polygonal design.

For Huawei, after experiencing some setbacks, opting for the domestically produced HuaWei sensor is the most prudent choice. Moreover, this has become the mainstream option for domestic brands in recent years, and the rise of HuaWei products is an unstoppable trend. 7eaded1c-a62a-4b07-8419-b28c3b09f6f2.png As for the IMX989 sensor used in the P70 Art, it has been utilized by domestic brands before, delivering impressive results. However, it comes with noticeable drawbacks, such as a prominent camera module bump and a heavier overall device, adding to the everyday pressure of using the phone. For Huawei, Sony is not a stranger. In the years prior, Huawei and Sony collaborated deeply to develop the powerful IMX700 sensor, which once propelled Huawei's dominance in the high-end market.

Now, Huawei has once again secured the IMX989 sensor. After several years, Huawei will leverage its comprehensive capabilities to develop the P70 Art. Can it deliver a sleek and lightweight user experience? That remains to be seen, but the direction looks promising, leaving users with higher expectations.

Regarding the telephoto lens, there haven't been many leaks yet, but judging from the characteristics of the P series, telephoto capabilities will likely remain a strong suit. After all, the impressive 10x optical zoom achieved by the dual telephoto lenses of the P40 Pro+ left a lasting impression.

In the P60 Pro, Huawei employed a solution called Super Zoom Night Vision Telephoto, featuring an industry-first super zoom multi-lens module and three-axis sensor-shift stabilization. This setup significantly improved light intake and stabilization for telephoto shots, while also offering impressive telephoto macro capabilities.

In Huawei's imaging theoretical framework, optics, mechanics, electronics, and algorithms constitute the foundation of imaging. Naturally, the P70 series will innovate around these four dimensions.

In terms of the display, leaks suggest that the Huawei P70 series will feature a 1.5K new substrate-centered single-hole eye-protecting screen. The regular P70 will remain a flagship with a smaller screen, while other versions will have larger screens. Rest assured, the P70 series will continue to support LTPO and ambient display features, ensuring unquestionable performance in terms of color accuracy and eye protection. fe19642d-399a-4647-bbb1-e8887cbc15e2.png In terms of processors, there's currently no clear indication of a Kirin 9100 product. Given Huawei's tendency, the processors for the P series are likely to remain consistent with the Mate series. So, it's highly probable that they'll stick with the current Kirin 9000S, with the possibility of introducing an enhanced version of the Kirin 9000S. As for a completely new generation of processors, that's likely to be reserved for the Mate70 series products in the latter half of the year.

Of course, satellite communication will continue to be a highlight of the P70 series. According to leaks, Huawei will incorporate the latest technology, which is very promising. Currently, in the top-tier products of the Mate series, such as the Pro+ and the exceptional Mate, Huawei has implemented dual satellite communication, combining two-way BeiDou satellite messaging with TianTong satellite calls. In the P70 series, this combination is expected to be applied to the standard version, with new technology being used in higher versions. 30fec02a-be90-4d11-ab31-440efc4dfc8c.png In terms of battery solutions, the upcoming P70 series is expected to make a breakthrough. Based on consumer feedback from the already released Mate60 series, the battery life experience hasn't been particularly outstanding. Additionally, the P series has always had smaller batteries compared to the Mate series. Given that the processor remains unchanged, the most direct way to improve the user experience is to increase battery capacity using new battery technologies. In the P60 Art edition, the battery capacity reached 5100mAh, while other versions were at 4815mAh. This time, I personally anticipate that all versions of the P70 series could exceed 5000mAh.

Summary: Although Huawei has not yet officially released any information about the P70 series, rumors are flying everywhere, especially as the launch date approaches. There are leaks suggesting that the P70 series might debut on the Huawei online store at the end of this month or early next month, following a secretive launch strategy once again. It's advisable for everyone to be prepared for this. With Huawei's strong comeback in the smartphone market, it's believed that this year's P70 series will not disappoint in terms of imaging capabilities. Let's wait and see.
