As early as January 18th this year, during the HarmonyOS Ecology Sailing event, Huawei had already disclosed that more than 200 initial cooperating app developers were diligently accelerating the research and development process of native HarmonyOS applications. 959fdfb0-67a9-49c5-89dd-4ecc316713fe.jpg Huawei announced that with the addition of over 4000 applications, the development of the HarmonyOS ecosystem has entered a new phase, signaling the commencement of an aggressive push forward.

Reportedly, Huawei is set to launch the commercial version of HarmonyOS NEXT, dubbed the "Milky Way Edition," for consumers in the fourth quarter of 2024. Currently, developer previews for this version are available for global developers upon application.

This move signifies a significant step towards the independence of the native HarmonyOS developer ecosystem, leading to a complete "hard fork" from the Android system, establishing a distinct closed-loop system at both the operating system and application ecosystem levels.

Internally, Huawei sources reveal that the number of native HarmonyOS applications is expected to exceed 5000 by the end of this year. With the continuous refinement and maturation of HarmonyOS NEXT, Huawei aims to raise a banner in the mobile operating system domain, offering a fresh intelligent interconnected experience to users worldwide.
