On March 9th, China Mobile held a press conference in Beijing, announcing the official commercialization of the world's first 400G all-optical provincial interconnection backbone network, developed independently.

By mid-year, China Mobile will achieve comprehensive "East number, West computation" high-speed interconnection among 8 major hubs, making it the world's largest operator of a 400G all-optical provincial interconnection backbone network, with the widest coverage.

Li Huidi, Vice President of China Mobile, stated that the commissioning and application release of the first link of China Mobile's 400G OTN provincial backbone network signify the beginning of the commercialization of the backbone 400G OTN all-optical network.

The entire project, spanning over 1900 sets of OTN equipment in 135 cities nationwide, will achieve the widest coverage globally.

Simultaneously, with a network-wide computing capacity exceeding 30PB and inter-hub latency of less than 20ms, China Mobile aims to build the world's strongest carrying capacity, creating high-quality all-optical transport capacity spanning east and west.

During the conference, Huawei showcased the new Kepler OTN platform used in the first link of the 400G all-optical provincial backbone network (Beijing-Inner Mongolia), as well as a full range of ultra-high-speed 400G and NCE-T transport map solutions.

It is understood that Huawei has maintained close technical cooperation with China Mobile:

In 2019, Huawei assisted China Mobile in the comprehensive introduction of single-wavelength 200G transmission technology in the eastern region, ushering in a wave of domestic 200G-scale construction.

In June 2022, Huawei assisted China Mobile in verifying the industry's first C6T+L6T single-fiber ultra-wideband spectrum innovative OTN solution.

In March 2023, Huawei assisted China Mobile in completing the first 32T capacity 400G QPSK system laboratory verification.

In June 2023, Huawei assisted China Mobile in refreshing the longest transmission record of 400G QPSK in the live network over a distance of 6028km, and won the only optical transmission award at the top global academic conference in the field of optical communications, ECOC.

Chen Banghua, President of Huawei's Optical Product Line, stated, "In the future, Huawei will continue to invest in the field of optical transmission and deepen cooperation with China Mobile in areas such as post-400G evolution, AI+ in network coordination, and more." s_a568d77ab2b748b292fe0e2398c5280a.png
