On April 15th, Huawei officially announced the comprehensive upgrade of its classic P series smartphones, now rebranded as the all-new Pura series. Since the debut of the Huawei P series smartphones in 2012, after 12 years of technological accumulation and market refinement, today, this series will continue to advance under the new name "HUAWEI Pura".
In fact, Huawei has long been prepared for this change. According to Tianyancha's intellectual property information, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. has applied to register multiple "Pura" and "HUAWEI Pura" trademarks, with the earliest applications dating back to May 2019. As of now, some of these trademarks have been successfully registered, providing strong protection for the upgrade and succession of the P series.
Regarding this change, Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei's Consumer Business, stated: "The development history of the P series is a history of mobile imaging and the evolution of technological aesthetics. It witnessed my youthful struggles and also recorded Huawei's continuous innovation and breakthroughs in the smartphone field. Now, the P series has officially been renamed the Pura series, which is not only a tribute to the past but also an expectation for the future."
It is reported that the Huawei Pura series will inherit the excellent genes of the P series in smart imaging and technological aesthetics. The upcoming new flagship from Huawei is expected to be the first product of the Pura series. This phone will integrate Huawei's latest achievements in mobile imaging technology.
The Huawei P series was first released in 2012 and has a history of 12 years. The first model was the Ascend P1. Starting from the Ascend P2 in 2013, Huawei began using its self-developed processor, the HiSilicon K3V2, and has since persisted in developing its own processors, leading to the Kirin series and Huawei's high-end flagships we see today.
