Huawei's cost-effectiveness shines! NVIDIA's special edition chips for China see price drop: local manufacturers unimpressed

On May 27th, it was reported last week that NVIDIA is considering lowering the prices of its AI chips in China to better compete with Huawei.

Now, according to sources, the H20 chip is meant to replace NVIDIA's H100 chip. With the H100 chip not in short supply and ample availability of the H20 chip, the market is returning to rationality, making price reductions inevitable.

Sources also mentioned that the H20 and other NVIDIA special edition chips for China have seen significant cutbacks, to the extent that local manufacturers are not very impressed.

It is reported that the NVIDIA H20 chip is widely available in China, but it is no longer sold as a standalone card; instead, it comes as part of a complete machine. NVIDIA typically sells the H20 to server manufacturers, who then assemble them into servers for sale to enterprises, leading to increased procurement costs for businesses.

These various factors have led to sluggish sales of NVIDIA's special edition chips in China, while Huawei's cost-effectiveness stands out.

Previous data indicates that Huawei's Ascend 910B is comparable to NVIDIA's A100. In high-precision FP32 training inference, the Ascend 910B holds a significant advantage, while the A100 excels in data transfer between cards (CUDA NVIDIA core competitiveness). s_5f2bc3cb00544ae5aa9f150e6f0348c3.jpg
