As of March 21st, the Gaolan Port Bridge in the T4 contract section of the Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Channel has successfully closed its deck, becoming the first of the two main bridges in the cross-sea channel to do so.

The Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Channel is another mega cross-sea project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The project connects the cities of Zhuhai and Jiangmen in Guangdong Province. It has a total length of approximately 31 kilometers and features a six-lane expressway with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The cross-sea section consists of two main bridges: the Gaolan Port Bridge and the Huangmaohai Bridge. s_bb750411555f4278a282a14de60d7a13.jpg

Gaolan Port Bridge: A Floating Colossus

Anchoring the project's significance, the Gaolan Port Bridge stands tall as a single-column, twin-cable, fully floating suspension bridge boasting a remarkable main span of 700 meters. Its impressive navigation clearance of 64 meters allows seamless passage for vessels up to 50,000 tons, showcasing its exceptional navigational capabilities.

Moreover, the Gaolan Port Bridge's main girder features a partitioned steel box structure, comprising two steel box girders and transverse connecting boxes. Each standard girder segment measures 15 meters in length, weighs a formidable 370 tons, stands 4 meters tall, and together with its twin section, forms a 50.4-meter-wide bridge deck. s_1c7e57176f984b769c2ed562617e7228.jpg

Erection of Steel Box Girders

In addition to the conventional bridge crane lifting scheme for steel box girder erection, the project also combined the "scaffolding + floating crane erection method" to install special girder sections, which effectively reduced the impact of frequent typhoons.

Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Channel

Upon completion, the Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Channel will further improve the Greater Bay Area's cross-sea and cross-river channel network, playing a crucial role in enhancing connectivity within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and contributing to the region's high-quality development. s_99d1880364b24b27bbc13bf6c572065b.jpg
