How Graduates View Job Prospects: Increasing Desire for Stability

On May 9th, a recent report revealed that among the 2024 job-seeking graduates in China, 47.7% aspire to work in state-owned enterprises, ranking first among all types of companies.

Following this, 14.7% of graduates aim to work in government agencies, while the proportions for joint ventures, private enterprises, and public institutions are 13%, 12.5%, and 10.7% respectively.

In terms of trends, the percentage of graduates aspiring to work in state-owned enterprises has been rising for five consecutive years, increasing from 36% in 2020 to 47.7% in 2024.

Conversely, the percentage of graduates aspiring to work in private enterprises has been declining for five consecutive years, decreasing from 25.1% in 2020 to 12.5% in 2024.

Faced with an uncertain macro environment, graduates are increasingly prioritizing stability in their job searches, seeking secure employment and income to enhance their quality of life and risk resilience.
