On April 25th, the 14th Beijing International Film Festival's AIGC Film Short Unit Honors Ceremony, hosted by the Beijing International Film Festival Organizing Committee, concluded successfully.
Attendees at the ceremony included Bian Jian, member of the Beijing Radio and Television Station Party Group and Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Cui Yan, Director of the Beijing International Film Festival Operations Center, renowned director Xue Xiaolu, and Sun Bing, founder of the Hivideo creator platform.
The AIGC Film Short Unit, established for the first time in the 14-year history of the Beijing International Film Festival, aims to explore new directions in film and television development by leveraging artificial intelligence in the rapidly evolving AIGC landscape.
The chairman of the judging panel for this year's AIGC unit competition is director Xue Xiaolu. Hivideo is responsible for collecting all the entries for this unit as the main technical support platform.
From the official announcement of the event to the end of the submission period, Hivideo has collected over 430 short films. Judges evaluated the films from various perspectives such as AI technology application, thematic expression, artistic appeal, audio-visual language, etc. Out of the intense competition, 23 films stood out and made it to the final evaluation stage.
In the end, "Spring of Ice and Fire" directed by Chen Jiawei won the Best Popular Short Film Award, "Garden of the Skull" directed by Yan Xiangning won the Best Visual Effects Short Film, "The Da Vinci Plan: New Renaissance" won the Best Art Design Short Film, "Tomorrow's Verdict: The Great Sage's Capture" directed by Wang Zimin won the Best Creative Short Film, and the Best Film of this AIGC Short Film Unit was awarded to "To My Dear Self". After the awards ceremony, the creators each delivered their acceptance speeches, creating a warm atmosphere at the venue.
Chairman Xue Xiaolu, the head judge, expressed that the films in this AIGC unit have surpassed the familiar expressions of film and television in the past. He saw many pioneering works that bring a different possibility and vitality to the future of cinema. This has provided the judging panel with a fresh audiovisual experience and deeply impressed them with the limitless creativity empowered by AI technology.
During the ceremony, Bian Jian, a member of the Beijing Radio and Television Station's Party Group and Deputy Editor-in-Chief, pointed out that this unit has provided creators with a broad platform for showcasing their work, promoting comprehensive exchanges and development within the industry. It has played a significant role in promoting industry-wide technical sharing, academic talent cultivation, industry demand, and international creative exchanges, greatly enhancing the international communication efficiency of China's AI technology creation field.
Cui Yan, Deputy Director of the Beijing International Film Festival Organizing Committee Office, introduced the vision and mission of establishing the AIGC unit and expressed heartfelt thanks to friends from all walks of life who supported this AIGC unit.
After the event, the Beijing International Film Festival Organizing Committee also awarded Hivideo, the Hi Video Creator Platform, the AIGC Best Service Provider Award in the field for its outstanding contributions to the film submission and evaluation process, recognizing its strong support for the AIGC unit.
