On March 25th, Haval SUV officially launched its plug-in hybrid model, the second-generation Big Dog, with a single variant priced at ¥179,800. Additionally, buyers can enjoy seven purchase incentives. See the details in the image below.
Although designated as the second generation, the new vehicle hasn't undergone significant changes in its exterior design, still retaining the design language of the current DHT-PHEV model. The front end features a trapezoidal grille with the brand's blue logo embedded within it. The headlights remain classic round shapes on both sides, incorporating LED technology for a blend of retro and modern aesthetics.
The interior design follows the current trend, featuring a full LCD instrument panel and a large floating central control screen. Below the central screen, there is a row of physical buttons retained, enhancing the convenience of operating commonly used functions. It also comes with an electronic gear lever similar to that of the Tank 300, presenting a rugged visual effect with a strong, tough demeanor. The vehicle shines in terms of its intelligence features, boasting an L2+ level intelligent driving assistance system. It seamlessly integrates the high-speed NOH smart navigation assistance system with the onboard navigation, coupled with high-precision maps and HWA high-speed driving assistance functions, providing more practical advanced driving assistance features.
Compared to the exterior and interior design, the newly launched vehicle sees a revolutionary update in its powertrain system, featuring the self-developed Hi4 plug-in hybrid four-wheel drive system by Great Wall Motors. The system comprises a 1.5T engine, Hi4 front drive module assembly, and Hi4 rear drive module assembly. It's a series-parallel hybrid four-wheel drive system capable of delivering a maximum output of 378 horsepower and a combined torque of 750 Newton-meters. It achieves a WLTC comprehensive fuel consumption of 1.83 liters per 100 kilometers and comes equipped with a 33 kW fast charging function. In urban conditions, the second-generation Haval Big Dog Hi4 version can automatically recognize real-time road conditions, intelligently activate the front and rear dual motors and the engine, and achieve nine driving modes including pure electric two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, series, and parallel, further reducing fuel consumption.
When driving on non-paved roads, the Hi4 system can adjust the torque output of the front and rear axles, fully utilizing the adhesion of the front and rear wheels, bringing stronger off-road capabilities to tackle some light off-road scenarios.
