According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's initial batch of new AI features set to debut with iOS 18 will operate entirely on the device, eliminating the need for reliance on cloud servers. ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdingyue.ws.126.net%2F2024%2F0415%2F48e5fd69j00sbyfeo000id000m800cig.jpg&thumbnail=660x2147483647&quality=80&type=jpg Gurman stated in today's Q&A segment of his Power On newsletter: "With the global anticipation building for Apple's major AI unveiling on June 10th, it appears that the initial features will be entirely on-device. This means the large language models powering these new features won't rely on cloud processing."

Gurman also noted that Apple may introduce some cloud-based AI features in the future, potentially supported by Google's Gemini or other vendors. It's been reported that Apple has been in discussions with companies like Google, OpenAI, and China's Baidu regarding potential collaborations on generative AI. While iOS 18 is not expected to include Apple's own ChatGPT-like chatbot, it's currently unclear whether Gemini or other chatbots will be directly integrated into iOS 18.

Pulsestacks observed that some Apple supply chain analysts, such as Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu, suggest that due to Apple's active procurement of AI servers, there may be some cloud-based proprietary generative AI features in the future.

Rumors suggest that iOS 18 will bring new generative AI features to iPhone apps like Spotlight search, Siri, Safari, Shortcuts, Apple Music, Messages, Health, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and more. Gurman previously reported that generative AI will enhance Siri's ability to answer complex questions and enable auto-completion of sentences in the Messages app.

Apple will unveil iOS 18 and other software updates at its annual WWDC developer conference from June 10th to 14th.
