Google has long been pushing the release of its Pixel series smartphones. Last October, Google launched the Pixel 8 series phones, including the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models.
Now, as time progresses, leaks about the all-new generation of Google Pixel 9 series phones have begun to emerge.
Today's report from pulsestacks reveals that the local AI features of the Google Pixel 9 series phones have been exposed. The recent findings from the source AssembleDebug uncovered various local AI features in applications such as Google AI Core, hinting at what's to come for the Google Pixel 9 series. These features include OCR, TEXT_TO_IMAGE, and QUESTION_TO_ANSWER.
Of particular note is the TEXT_TO_IMAGE functionality, which suggests that the Google Pixel 9 series will introduce AI capabilities that can generate images locally based on text input, without relying on cloud servers.
Furthermore, regarding OCR, it appears that the Google Pixel 9 series will enhance its ability to recognize text in images by utilizing local AI models.
The discovery of QUESTION_TO_ANSWER within the beta version of the Google Messages app code indicates that the Pixel 9 series will be able to answer certain user questions by running AI models locally.
Additionally, the code reveals other AI functionalities such as AUTOFILL_SMART_REPLY (automatic reply suggestions), TEXT_CLASSIFICATION (text content-based classification), and EMBEDDING (for processing attachment images or summarizing PDF main content).
In addition to these AI features, previous leaks mentioned that the Google Pixel 9 series will consist of three models: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, marking the first "XL" version since the Google Pixel 5 series. At the same time, renderings of the three models have also surfaced online.
Judging from the renderings, all three models feature similar exterior designs. The front of all three models adopts a centered hole-punch display design, paired with a straight-edged frame scheme, with the power button and volume keys located on the right side of the phone's frame. On the rear panel, all three models feature a fresh pill-shaped camera module design. The Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL sport three rear cameras, while the Pixel 9 opts for two.
Leaks suggest that the Google Pixel 9 will boast a 6.03-inch screen, the Pixel 9 Pro will come with a 6.1-inch display, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL will flaunt a 6.5-inch screen. In terms of performance, the Google Pixel 9 series is set to feature the Tensor G4 chip.
Reportedly, this chip will be manufactured using Samsung's 4nm process, with speculation suggesting it's likely the 4LPP+ node.
In terms of specifications, the Google Tensor G4 chip is expected to feature an 8-core design, including 1 large core clocked at 3.1GHz, 3 big cores at 2.6GHz, and 4 small cores at 1.95GHz, along with an integrated Mali-G715 GPU.
The Google Pixel 9 series is also expected to adopt Qi2 charging technology. This is an upgraded standard capable of boosting wireless charging speeds up to 15W, with magnetic alignment functionality. According to digital blogger @数码闲聊站, the upcoming Google Pixel 9 series is expected to feature satellite communication capabilities.
