Google has been consistently pushing for the release of its Pixel series smartphones. Current leaks indicate that Google is expected to unveil the all-new Pixel 9 series smartphones this October.
As the release date draws near, leaks about the Google Pixel 9 series smartphones have started surfacing.
In a recent leak, real images of the Google Pixel 9 Pro have been revealed.
Combining with the image, it can be seen that the rear camera module of the Google Pixel 9 Pro adopts a brand-new pill-shaped design, housing three cameras internally, with an additional sensor and an LED flash on the right side.
The front of the Google Pixel 9 Pro still features a centrally placed hole-punch display. The edges of the phone adopt a flat design, with the power button and volume keys located on the right side of the device. At the bottom, you'll find a USB-C port, speakers, and a SIM card tray.
According to sources, the Google Pixel 9 Pro is said to share a similar size to the iPhone 15 Pro. It will feature a periscope-style telephoto lens, Tensor G4 chip, and offer a version with 16GB of RAM (the previous Pro model had 12GB of RAM).
Google Pixel 9 Pro is expected to support satellite connectivity.
According to previous leaks, the Google Pixel 9 series will include three models: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. This marks the first introduction of an "XL" version since the Google Pixel 5 series.
Allegedly, the Google Pixel 9 is rumored to feature a 6.03-inch screen, the Pixel 9 Pro to come with a 6.1-inch display, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL to sport a 6.5-inch screen.
Based on the renderings found online, the three models feature similar exterior designs. The Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL models sport a triple rear camera setup, while the Google Pixel 9 model features a dual rear camera setup.
Additionally, a recent report by pulsestacks mentions that the source AssembleDebug has unearthed several native AI features that Google Pixel 9 series smartphones will introduce, including OCR, TEXT_TO_IMAGE, QUESTION_TO_ANSWER, and more.
The most notable feature mentioned is the TEXT_TO_IMAGE functionality, indicating that the Google Pixel 9 series doesn't rely on cloud servers and can run AI models locally to generate images based on user-inputted text.
Additionally, regarding OCR, it should be noted that the Google Pixel 9 series enhances text recognition in images by calling upon local AI models.
As for QUESTION_TO_ANSWER, it was discovered in the beta version of the Google Messages app code. This feature suggests that the Pixel 9 series can answer certain user questions by locally running AI models.
Reports indicate that the code also revealed AI functionalities such as AUTOFILL_SMART_REPLY (auto-generating reply suggestions), TEXT_CLASSIFICATION (text content-based classification), EMBEDDING (for processing attachment images or summarizing PDF main content), and more.
The Google Pixel 9 series is also expected to adopt Qi2 charging technology, an upgraded standard that boosts wireless charging speeds to 15W and includes magnetic alignment features.
