According to the latest report from IDC, the global traditional personal computer (PC) market has rebounded in the first quarter of 2024 after two years of decline. Shipments of PCs worldwide reached 59.8 million units in the quarter, marking a 1.5% year-over-year growth.

Lenovo once again secured the top position with shipments of 13.7 million units, representing a 7.8% year-over-year growth. Its market share also increased to 23.0%. Following Lenovo is HP, with shipments of 12 million units, showing a modest growth of 0.2% year-over-year, and capturing a market share of 20.1%. de0c26c4-4bcb-49b1-894e-0d3adca381dc.png Dell's shipment volume was 9.3 million units, down 2.2% year-on-year, with a market share of 15.5%. Apple's shipment volume was 4.8 million units, up 14.6% year-on-year, with a market share of 8.1%. Acer and Asus tied for fifth place. Furthermore, global PC shipments have finally rebounded to pre-pandemic levels, with first-quarter shipments in 2024 roughly matching those of the same period in 2019 at 60.5 million units.

Shipments of personal computers are starting to recover in most regions, driving growth in the Americas as well as Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

However, the report notes that demand in the Chinese market remains sluggish for now, though a resurgence is anticipated in 2024 with the gradual rollout of AI PCs and the renewal of commercial buyer demand.

At the recent Lenovo Group 2024/25 fiscal year oath-taking ceremony, Lenovo Group Chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing announced that the Lenovo Innovation Technology Conference Tech World will be held in Shanghai on April 18, where Lenovo will pioneer the launch of AI PCs with five major features in the Chinese market.

Lenovo Group will further elaborate on its "AI for All" strategy, continuing to drive innovation and application of artificial intelligence in devices, infrastructure, and solutions. s_716b27d93fe14090b8b3ac044317dc7a.png
