Global Massive Layoffs, Rare Sales Decline! Musk More Interested in Mars Than Upgrading Model 3

On April 17th, according to state media reports, insiders familiar with Tesla's situation revealed: "Musk seems to be only interested in exploring Mars recently, and he seems to have lost interest in launching an upgraded version of the Model 3."

Tesla is currently facing a challenging period. Earlier this month, Tesla announced its first-quarter sales data, with deliveries down 8.5% year-on-year to approximately 386,800 units. This is the first quarterly decline in Tesla's delivery volume since production was halted in 2020.

The significant drop in sales undoubtedly brings tremendous pressure to Tesla. Since the beginning of 2024, Tesla's stock price has fallen by about 35%, and its market value has evaporated by over $260 billion (approximately 1.88 trillion yuan).

Moreover, earlier this week, Musk informed employees that the company would cut more than 10% of its workforce, while two executives also announced their resignations.

In the past, Tesla's movements have set the tone for the entire industry. However, recently, Tesla's pace of innovation has slowed down.

Musk has abandoned the strategy of traditional car companies, which involves upgrading models every year and occasionally launching a few new models, instead focusing on major innovations such as the Cybertruck electric pickup and fully autonomous driving.

However, the reality is that Tesla has not introduced a new model for many years and has even canceled plans to release a low-cost model. The delivery of the Cybertruck electric pickup truck is also facing significant challenges, and Musk's long-promised fully autonomous driving function has yet to be realized. 0c3d11e5-e686-4b5b-866e-2f2e8060de49.jpg
