On March 13th, analyst Ross Young revealed that the production capacity for the 11-inch version of the iPad Pro 2024 is lower compared to the 13-inch version, leading to anticipated supply shortages upon the new product's launch.
Young pointed out that currently, Samsung is responsible for producing the OLED panels required for the 11-inch iPad Pro, while LG Display handles the production of the 13-inch OLED panels.
With the current lower production capacity for the 11-inch version, Apple plans to allocate a portion of the 11-inch panel orders to LG Display in the future, which will alleviate the supply shortage issue for the iPad Pro 2024 11-inch model.
It's worth noting that this marks Apple's first use of OLED screens on the iPad, which, compared to the previous mini-LED technology, offers self-emissive properties, eliminating the need for a backlight module, resulting in a thinner design and purer black display.
Additionally, previous versions of the iPad Pro with mini-LED screens were reported to have "blooming effects," causing halos when displaying pure black backgrounds, which affected the user experience. This time, the iPad Pro 2024 is set to completely resolve this issue.
