Recently, it was announced by the Museum of the First Emperor of Qin that China and France will collaborate on the preservation research of the wooden remains and soil sites of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and the Mausoleum of the First Emperor of Qin.
Both the Mausoleum of the First Emperor of Qin in China and the Notre Dame Cathedral in France utilized a significant amount of wooden materials in the past, leading to the existence of fire-damaged wooden remains.
The two countries will conduct research including wood species identification, assessment of preservation status, degradation mechanisms, protection technologies and methods. Additionally, they will study the durability and stability of soil sites, production techniques, identification and assessment of diseases, and damage mechanisms.
Furthermore, this collaboration aims to jointly cultivate young talents in the field of cultural heritage technology conservation.
