On April 16th, at today's "Formula Leopard Automobile Spring Launch Event," the Formula Leopard flagship hardcore off-road vehicle, Leopard 8, made its official debut, while the official also released the Super 3 and Super 9, along with the already launched Leopard 5, four models fully meeting users' personalized needs.
It is reported that this car will be built on the BYD DMO super hybrid off-road platform, positioned as a large SUV, featuring a three-row seating layout internally and equipped with the Yunche-P chassis.
Overall, the appearance of the Leopard 8 bears some resemblance to the U8, featuring a square-box exterior design and retaining the three-pronged observation tower on the roof. Positioned in the center is a laser radar, highlighting symmetrical aesthetics. The large grille is adorned with three chrome strips, and the headlights are seamlessly integrated with the grille, creating a visually commanding presence.
In terms of power, the new vehicle adopts the DMO off-road platform, featuring a non-load-bearing body, and continues the four core configurations of off-road driving, balancing power, fuel consumption, safety, and comfort.
It is reported that DMO, short for Dual Mode Off-Road, known in Chinese as the Super Hybrid Off-Road Platform, is an off-road platform primarily driven by electric power. The DMO platform adopts a longitudinal layout for both the engine and EHS hybrid system.
This platform is compatible with 1.5T and 2.0T longitudinal engines, both of which are high-power versions specially designed for the XIAOYUN plug-in hybrid. These engines feature advanced technologies such as high compression ratio, high thermal efficiency, and high-pressure fuel injection system, enabling hardcore off-roading with low energy consumption.
After the launch of the Leopard 8, it is poised to compete with large hardcore off-road vehicles, including the Toyota Land Cruiser and Tank 700Hi4-T. Based on this, it can be speculated that the price of the Leopard 8 may be in the 500,000 yuan range.
