Experts Gather at Shanghai University to Discuss High-Quality Development in Yangtze River Delta

On March 30th, Shanghai University of Applied Sciences hosted the 2024 Yangtze River Delta Forum on the High-Quality Development of New Productivity. More than 250 experts and scholars from government, universities, enterprises, and research service institutions in the Yangtze River Delta region gathered to discuss focal issues, explore development models, and collectively advance collaboration among government, industry, academia, and research in promoting the development of new productivity. He stressed the importance of establishing a virtuous cycle among education, technology, and talent, while continuously exploring partnerships between universities, local communities, and enterprises. As an applied university, he underscored the necessity to better cultivate high-caliber innovative talents required for the development of new productive forces. By integrating the innovative paradigms of politics, industry, academia, and research, he aims to further leverage the core elements of technological innovation and strive to become a driving force for the development of new productive forces. Faced with new situations and tasks, how to empower the development of new productive forces? Representatives from government departments, industry enterprises, and scientific service institutions brought nine wonderful reports to the forum, combining "their own resources, industry demands, and development needs." All parties shared new opportunities, planned for new development, and discussed the new future together. At the forum, 36 local governments, leading and high-tech enterprises, and scientific service institutions from the Yangtze River Delta, such as the Science and Technology Commission of Xuhui District, the Science and Technology Commission of Fengxian District, and the Intellectual Property Office of Fengxian District, were thanked and commended as outstanding partners of Shanghai University of Applied Sciences. Han Sheng, the dean of the Scientific and Technological Research Institute of Shanghai University of Applied Sciences, introduced that the school is actively promoting the reform of the research paradigm, closely integrating forward-looking layouts in the field of basic research oriented towards application and building collaborative innovation platforms with close cooperation internally and externally. This serves the needs of the governments and enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region, improving the organization mode of scientific research tackling key problems. By prioritizing research, promoting production, and truly focusing on the "demand" stage, it drives the deep integration of the innovation chain and industrial chain.
