On April 22nd, following esports' recognition as an official event at the 2023 Asian Games, its influence in the consumer electronics sector in China is rapidly expanding.
According to the latest research report by Runto Technology (RUNTO), in the first quarter of 2024, the online retail market for monitors in mainland China (excluding social media e-commerce platforms such as Douyin and Kuaishou) reached a sales volume of 2.09 million units.
Of particular note is that the sales of esports monitors reached 1.21 million units, marking a growth of 24.7% compared to the same period last year. This accounted for 58% of the independent monitor market share in that quarter, setting a record high penetration rate.
In the past three years, the share of esports monitors in the overall market has doubled.
Esports monitors typically feature high refresh rates and fast response times, crucial for fast-paced, visually intense esports games, reducing motion blur and providing a smoother gaming experience.
Additionally, esports monitors often come with gaming-centric features, even boasting "cheat-level" technologies like central crosshair aiming and dark area enhancement, meeting gamers' demand for high-performance display devices.
Analysts predict that thanks to the push from the 618 promotion event, the esports market is expected to continue its rapid growth, with the overall market size poised for a minor explosive expansion.
