Electric Vehicle Nightmare! The US Spent $7.5 Billion in 3 Years to Build Only 8 Charging Stations, Official Clarifies

On May 28th, reports surfaced that in the past 3 years, the United States spent $7.5 billion but only managed to construct 8 charging stations, sparking a major controversy.

Data from the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) reveals that in 2021, the US government allocated $7.5 billion of taxpayers' money, yet only 8 charging stations have been built so far.

When questioned about this, the US Secretary of Transportation responded that the President's goal is to build 500,000 charging stations within a decade. Constructing a charging station involves more than just installing a small device in the ground; it also entails various utility-related tasks, hence progress is expected to be slow.

According to the Secretary, the first batch of charging stations is currently under physical construction. Federal funding aims to fill gaps in certain areas where the private sector is currently unable to profit.

Given the current situation in the US, it is indeed a nightmare for electric vehicles. In contrast, China has already surpassed 3 million public charging stations.

The latest data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) shows that from January to April 2024, the number of public charging stations increased by 250,000 compared to the end of 2023, with a year-on-year growth rate of 10%.

By the end of April, the total number of public charging stations across China reached 2.9766 million. With an average monthly increase of over 60,000 in 2024, the number has already exceeded 3 million. s_9c3ab0088de244eebf543ad936426b6d.jpg
