Re Feng Sat, Apr 06 2024 09:51 AM EST

On April 4th, it was reported that Dongfeng Nissan has filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation. The recall involves a total of 86,566 vehicles from Dongfeng Nissan and Infiniti brands.

  1. Dongfeng Nissan's X-Trail and Qijun models, totaling 25,715 vehicles.
    • Scope of recall:
      • Some 2021 X-Trail vehicles produced between October 20, 2021, and December 1, 2021, totaling 24,722 units.
      • Some 2021 Qijun vehicles produced between October 27, 2021, and December 23, 2021, totaling 993 units.
    • Reason for recall: Some vehicles within this recall range have a defect in the right front lower control arm weld location, leading to insufficient strength. Under extreme circumstances, the weld of the right front lower control arm may crack due to external force impact, causing the vehicle to unexpectedly veer off course, posing a safety hazard.
    • Remedy: Dongfeng Motor Corporation will inspect the production batch number of the right front lower control arm for vehicles within the recall scope. Those identified as being from the risk batch will undergo free replacement to eliminate the safety hazard. s_f3039040f4a5471997b8fb6358c8f584.png

Infiniti Recalls 60,851 Vehicles Due to Safety Concerns

In response to potential safety issues, Infiniti has initiated a recall affecting a total of 60,851 vehicles, including the Q50L and QX50 models.

Recall Details:

  • Affected Vehicles:
    • 40,730 units of the Q50L manufactured between November 1, 2016, and October 31, 2018.
    • 8,392 units of the QX50 manufactured between November 1, 2016, and October 28, 2017.
    • 11,729 units of the QX50 manufactured between May 1, 2018, and November 30, 2018.

Issue:

A portion of vehicles within the recall scope may experience damage to the passenger seat occupancy sensor due to manufacturing reasons. This could lead to a malfunction in the Occupant Classification System (OCS), resulting in the illumination of the OCS status light and the instrument panel's airbag warning light. Additionally, the deployment function of the passenger airbag may be deactivated.

Safety Risk:

In the event of a collision, the failure of the passenger airbag to deploy properly increases the risk of injury to the front passenger, posing a safety hazard.

Resolution:

Dongfeng Motor Corporation, the parent company of Infiniti, will replace the affected vehicles' OCS sensors with improved ones at no cost to the owners, thus addressing the safety concern. s_2c0126eb1e14483a9c6d55d55a539e60.png
