On May 3rd, in support of users trading in old appliances for new ones, Gree Electric Appliances announced that they will allocate 30 billion yuan in subsidies.

Prior to this, Dong Mingzhu publicly expressed her hope that the country could promptly establish mandatory safety standards for the service life of household appliances.

She believes that improving the product scrapping system is crucial for the household appliance industry, just like the automotive industry, as household appliances in long-term service may pose safety risks.

Dong Mingzhu also mentioned that the Chinese household appliance market has entered a peak period of upgrading, and the government has once again proposed policies for "a new round of large-scale equipment upgrades and trade-ins for consumer goods". s_1a64513b7bd541a3b53dd7afc8ea981d.png Subsequently, Jiang Feng, the Executive Chairman of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, mentioned in an article that many consumers mistakenly believe they can continue using household appliances as long as they are not broken.

However, Jiang Feng believes this notion is problematic. He points out that household appliances, like food, also have their own "shelf life" for use.

According to the "Safety Service Life of Household Appliances," the safe service life of refrigerators and air conditioners is 10 years, while washing machines, water heaters, and range hoods are 8 years.

It is estimated that in 2022, the demand for the replacement of major household appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and washing machines in China will be around 150 million units, accounting for over 80% of the total sales that year. s_f783867de55d45358553da8dcc0ac84e.jpg
