On March 18th, reports from domestic media indicate that another billion-ton oilfield has been discovered in the central and northern Bohai Sea region of China.
CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation) officially announced a major discovery in the central and northern Bohai Sea region of China – the Qinhuangdao 27-3 oilfield, with proven petroleum geological reserves of 1.04 billion tons.
According to official statements, this marks a significant oil and gas discovery in the area after a gap of 10 years.
It is reported that under normal extraction conditions, the Qinhuangdao 27-3 oilfield can yield nearly 20 million tons of crude oil. After refining into gasoline, it can meet the daily transportation needs of residents in a city of a million people for over 10 years. Additionally, the asphalt extracted can pave over 100,000 kilometers of four-lane highways, equivalent to circling the Earth more than three times.
Earlier, CNOOC announced the discovery of China's first deepwater and deep-layer oilfield in the Pearl River Mouth Basin – the Kaipingnan oilfield, with proven oil and gas geological reserves of 1.02 billion tons of oil equivalent. They also made further discoveries in deep-sea oil and gas exploration in the Bohai Sea, with the Bohai 26-6 oilfield achieving record-breaking production capacity during new well testing.
