April 6th report: According to official data from the Voice of Culture and Tourism, during the Qingming Festival holiday in 2024, there were a total of 1.19 billion domestic tourist trips across the country, with domestic tourists collectively spending 539.5 billion CNY.
The data reveals that during the 3-day holiday period, domestic tourist trips across the country reached 1.19 billion, marking an 11.5% increase compared to the same period in 2019, based on comparable metrics. Additionally, domestic tourist spending amounted to 539.5 billion CNY, reflecting a 12.7% increase compared to the same period in 2019.
Self-driving, cycling, and hiking have become popular ways to travel during the Qingming holiday, with short trips, local excursions, and nearby destinations being favored choices.
Several attractions such as Mount Tai, the Fuxi Temple in Tianshui, and the Longmen Grottoes have announced crowd control measures. Theme parks like Disneyland, Chimelong, Haichang, and Yinqi are experiencing peak visitor numbers. Popular tourist cities like Beijing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Chongqing, Xi'an, Changsha, Suzhou, and Chengdu continue to draw significant tourism interest.
Emerging travel destinations have also become new hotspots during the holiday. Data shows that cities experiencing a more than 50% increase in tourist numbers include Tai'an, Zibo, Tianshui, Kaifeng, and Jingdezhen.
Among them, Tianshui in Gansu Province, which recently gained attention due to the popularity of spicy hot pot, has seen a staggering 21-fold increase in tourist bookings compared to the same period last year. Similarly, there's noticeable growth in visitor numbers in places like Qufu in Shandong and Kaifeng in Henan.
