On April 20th, in the recently concluded sprint race of the 2024 F1 Chinese Grand Prix, local driver Zhou Guanyu secured the 9th position.
This marked the first sprint race of the season, with Verstappen effortlessly clinching the victory, boasting a lead of over 13 seconds. Hamilton and Pérez respectively secured the second and third positions in the sprint race.
It's worth noting that this is Zhou Guanyu's first official appearance at the F1 Chinese Grand Prix, marking his debut on home turf.
Despite narrowly missing out on points, he remains the top driver for the "Earth" team.
In November 2011, the Alfa Romeo F1 Team announced Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu as their official driver for the upcoming season, making him the first Chinese driver to compete in the main races of Formula One.
Zhou Guanyu has made impressive strides in his two years in F1, earning the title of best newcomer. He achieved a career-best fifth place in qualifying and consistently finished in the top eight in races.
In September of last year, the Alfa Romeo F1 Team (now renamed "StakeF1 Team") officially announced the contract extension with Zhou Guanyu. He will continue to partner with Bottas to represent the team in the 2024 season, maintaining the current driver lineup.
