News on March 15th reveals that the first trial production of domestically produced Toyota Prado rolled off the assembly line at the Chengdu plant.
On February 29th, the brand-new Prado launched its online booking with prices ranging from 470,000 to 570,000 RMB. Within just one hour, over 5,000 vehicles were reserved.
The new car comes in four different levels, including UN, ALR, ADV, and LUX HI. Upon its release, it will cater to various segmented markets such as off-road, personalized, fashionable, and high-end.
The latest iteration of the Prado, as a completely revamped model, deviates from its traditional style by introducing two distinct front-end designs: one featuring retro round headlights for a nostalgic appeal, and the other boasting a sleeker look with square headlights for a more contemporary aesthetic.
The new car is built on Toyota's latest TNGA-F platform, sharing the same lineage as the Lexus GX. It departs from the rounded design of the past and adopts the trendy "boxy" design that has been popular in the past two years.
Looking at it from the side, the square-shaped silhouette bears a striking resemblance to the Lexus GX. The black protective panels and rugged wheel arch design further solidify the Prado's off-road image.
The rear of the car features a design with square-shaped taillights on both sides. The rear silver trim still carries the TOYOTA emblem, and on the left side, there's the model name in black.
In terms of power, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is equipped with a hybrid system consisting of a 2.4T engine and an electric motor to meet the requirements of China's National VI emission standards.
On the foundation of the P2+P4 architecture, the transition from hybrid to parallel mode is achieved through two clutches. It delivers a maximum output of 330 horsepower, coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It's equipped with all-wheel drive, differential gearbox, and central differential lock.
