The Xuelong 2 Visit to Hong Kong Organizing Committee held a press conference on the 16th, revealing that China's first independently built polar scientific research icebreaker, the "Xuelong 2," will arrive on April 8th for a five-day visit.

Chairman of the Xuelong 2 Visit to Hong Kong Executive Committee, He Jianzong, expressed the nation's great importance attached to the visit of the "Xuelong 2." Apart from Zhang Beichen, the leader and chief scientist of China's 40th Antarctic expedition team on board, as well as Captain Xiao Zhimin, there will also be numerous top scientists in the field of polar research and university professors. It is reported that the "Xuelong 2" will be open to the public for boarding and visiting from April 9th to 12th, with a series of activities planned.

The Xuelong 2 polar scientific research icebreaker is China's fourth polar research vessel following the Xiangyanghong 10, the Xuelong, and the Jidi, with a total length of 122.5 meters, a displacement of nearly 14,000 tons, a total installed power of 23.2 megawatts, and a crew capacity of 101 people.

Recently, the "Xuelong 2," which is carrying out the 40th Chinese Antarctic expedition mission, loaded expedition members at the Kunlun Station in Antarctica and set sail back to China.
