On April 12th, reports from the media indicate that Chinese B-segment sedans have collectively fallen below the 200,000 CNY price line, breaking a longstanding norm in the market.

B-segment cars typically refer to models with a wheelbase between 2550-2700mm, constituting the mainstream of family sedans.

Automotive industry analyst Yang Fujiang previously pointed out that 200,000 CNY is an important psychological price threshold in the Chinese automotive market. Products crossing this threshold are often regarded as entering the mid-to-high-end segment.

However, in the current market environment, this price barrier has been breached, with the overall price of B-segment sedans dropping below 200,000 CNY.

The recently launched 11th generation Sonata from Beijing Hyundai, with a length of 4945mm and a wheelbase of 2875mm, starts at 139,800 CNY. Even the N Line version, equipped with a 2.0T engine and various sporty configurations, requires only a bit over 160,000 CNY.

Apart from Sonata, core models in the joint venture B-segment car market such as Passat, Camry, Accord, and Teana have also seen comprehensive price reductions.

In the midst of an all-out price war in the market, BBA (Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi) has also initiated aggressive promotions. Discounts for BMW X1 and 2 Series are up to 40% off, while Cadillac XT5 sees a 100,000 CNY reduction across the board. The Infiniti QX55, originally priced around 450,000 CNY, now has a base price of only 250,000 CNY. 29d80e6b-c9b7-4fe3-ad5e-61b97a826c23.jpg
