China Leads by a Large Margin in the Ratio of Charging Piles for New Pure Electric Vehicles Compared to Other Countries

On May 1st, it was reported that Cui Dongshu, the Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association, wrote that in recent years, China's charging infrastructure has developed rapidly, establishing the world's largest, most extensive, and most diverse charging infrastructure system.

Currently, based on the calculation that one public charging pile is equivalent to three private charging piles, by 2023, China's ratio of charging piles for new pure electric vehicles has reached 1:1, far surpassing other countries by multiple times.

According to a report analysis by an international research firm, in the second half of 2022, the ratio of public charging piles to electric vehicles in China was 7:1, in the Americas it was 14.6:1, in Europe it was 17.6:1. When looking at the comparison of idle public charging piles, China's ratio is 16.7:1, globally it is 105:1, in Europe it is 120:1, and in the Americas it is 66:1. s_22026c4fd885431089499458df39f497.png Due to the sharp increase in sales of pure electric passenger vehicles in China in 2022, the ratio of charging piles to vehicles has also risen in the second half of 2022. This indicates that the expansion speed of China's public recharging infrastructure has failed to keep pace with the rapid growth in electric vehicle sales and vehicle ownership.

Furthermore, the current charging infrastructure in China still faces challenges such as inadequate layout, insufficiently rational structure, outdated charging pile technology, uneven service quality, and lack of standardized operations, all of which urgently need improvement. s_702b9b7ed96642989ebd32ed4366ba7c.jpg
