China Electronics Society Holds Science and Technology Awards Ceremony

On April 27, the China Electronics Society held its Science and Technology Awards Ceremony in Ningbo. Zhang Feng, Chairman of the China Electronics Society, along with Vice Chairmen Academician Xu Ningsheng, Academician Li Yanrong, Academician Zhang Jun, Academician Hao Yue, Executive Director Academician Duan Baoyan, Academician Yin Hao, Academician You Xiaohu, Director Academician Cui Tiejun, Academician Wu Jianqi, and Academician Zhang Minggao, as well as 26 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the event to present certificates to the award-winning projects and individuals. The awards ceremony was hosted by Chen Ying, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Electronics Society, and Director of the Awards Office.

In his address, Zhang Feng stated that promoting the development of science and technology, inspiring and guiding the growth of a vast number of scientific and technological workers, is one of the most important functions of scientific and technological societies. The China Electronics Society Science and Technology Award, as a social force award approved by the National Awards Office, plays an active role in stimulating the innovation vitality of scientific and technological personnel and promoting the development of electronic information science and technology and industry in China.

As of 2023, the Society has evaluated a total of 1442 award-winning projects, including 6 special awards, 281 first prizes, and 13 innovative team awards. In the nomination work for the National Science and Technology Award, 56 projects have been nominated and recommended by the Society, with 8 first prizes and 48 second prizes awarded. In the 2023 National Science and Technology Award nomination work, the Society has received 17 direct nomination quotas allocated by the National Awards Office and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Zhang Feng emphasized the continuous promotion of the spirit of scientists and the assistance in realizing the value of scientific and technological workers as an important mission of the Society. He hoped that the newly elected Fellows of the Society would steadfastly uphold the spirit of scientists among the vast membership of the China Electronics Society and the broader community of scientific and technological workers. He also wished that young talents would continue to make new progress and achievements in their future scientific research, education, and industrial research work, with the Society providing them with a greater platform and stage for their growth.

This awards ceremony featured 5 main components: the presentation of the 2023 China Electronics Society Science and Technology Awards, the issuance of certificates to the newly elected Fellows of the China Electronics Society for 2023, and the presentation of certificates to the recipients of the China Electronics Society-Tencent Robotics Research Program, the China Electronics Society-Zhixin Research Special Project, and the candidates recommended by the China Electronics Society for the China Association for Science and Technology Youth Talent Support Program.

During the awards ceremony, President Mao Jun of Shenzhen University and Vice President Zheng Hairong of Nanjing University delivered speeches.

In his speech, Chen Ying pointed out that the 20th National Congress report of the Party has set the direction for the Society's scientific and technological evaluation work. He stated that serving the vast scientific and technological workers and serving the innovation-driven development is the foundation of the Society. He hoped that experts and scholars would continue to support and participate in the work of the Society, provide opinions and suggestions, and make greater contributions to China's strategy of becoming a strong country in science and technology and the strategy of innovation-driven development.
