China's Civil Aviation Administration Issues Production License for Manned Autonomous Aircraft

On April 8th, according to official sources from EHang, the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued the first production license for a manned autonomous aircraft to EHang Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. in Guangzhou. This marks the first production license granted globally within the eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft) industry.

With a length of 5.73 meters and a height of 1.93 meters, this aircraft can be fully charged within 2 hours. It boasts a top flying speed of 130 kilometers per hour, with a flight duration of 25 minutes and a designed range of 30 kilometers.

The EH216-S incorporates a redundant design for all critical flight components, including flight control systems, various sensors, power systems, batteries, and their management systems, ensuring maximum safety with multiple backups in place.

According to reports, the EH216-S has a wide range of applications, including passenger transport, tourism, logistics, and medical emergency services. To date, it has completed over 40,000 safe flights in 14 countries worldwide.
