News broke on March 20th that the Tiggo 8 Plus from Chery has received a number of complaints from owners on the third-party automotive complaint platform, Auto Quality Network. The main issue reported is a malfunctioning ambient lighting system.
Compliant Owners Criticize Insufficient Brightness of Chery Tiggo 8 Plus Ambient Lighting
According to complaining owners: The Chery Tiggo 8 Plus's ambient lighting is insufficiently bright, causing widespread dissatisfaction among owners. Compared to Chery's Tiggo 8, Tiggo 8 Pro, and Tiggo 9, the Tiggo 8 Plus's ambient lighting is notably dimmer.
Additional owner complaints: The ambient lighting within the Tiggo 8 Plus functions more like an ornament than a functional feature. Even when adjusted to the highest brightness setting through the vehicle's infotainment system, the lighting remains inconspicuous. Moreover, the recessed design of the ambient lighting further compromises its visibility.
One owner quipped: "The only time I can see the faint glow of the ambient lighting is when it's pitch black inside the car. I'm not doing anything shady, so I'm not afraid of having brighter ambient lighting."
Currently, Chery has not yet responded to the complaints of car owners; we will follow up on this.
It is also worth mentioning that in February, the Tiggo 8 Plus was also subject to numerous complaints from car owners, with the complaint reason being "outdated car system version, no OTA update."
A complaining car owner stated that in the nearly two years since they purchased the car, they had never received an OTA update, rendering the OTA function useless.
