March 15th news: According to reports from national media, the United States has adjusted the definition of broadband, with both upstream and downstream speeds being raised.

According to the newly defined values in the United States: the downstream speed has been increased from 25 Mbps to 100 Mbps, and the upstream speed has been increased from 3 Mbps to 20 Mbps.

Currently, broadband penetration in the United States is not as strong as expected. For example, nearly 28% of rural Americans and over 23% of those living on tribal lands do not have broadband access.

Additionally, 45 million Americans cannot simultaneously access fixed services with speeds of 100/20 Mbps and mobile 5G-NR services with speeds of 35/3 Mbps.

According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of the end of June last year, the total number of fixed internet broadband access users of the three basic telecom enterprises reached 614 million households, with a net increase of 24.68 million households compared to the end of the previous year.

Among them, the number of fixed internet broadband access users with speeds of 100 Mbps and above reached 579 million households, accounting for 94.2% of the total number of users, an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared to the end of the previous year.

The number of fixed internet broadband access users with speeds of 1000 Mbps and above reached 128 million households, with a net increase of 36.12 million households compared to the end of the previous year, accounting for 20.8% of the total number of users, breaking through the 20% penetration rate. s_e919d06ed6bd470aaa58fa47b8d8aed7.jpg
