ChatGPT Introduces Temporary Chat Feature: Access Chat History Without Contributing Data

Lu Jiao Sat, May 04 2024 07:55 PM EST

On May 2nd, OpenAI has now fully opened up the historical chat feature to both free and Plus subscription users. This feature aims to provide users with a smoother and more coherent conversational experience.

Previously, users had to consent to OpenAI using their chat records for AI training in order to enable this feature.

Now, once the historical chat feature is activated, users can easily pick up conversations from where they left off in the last chat. ChatGPT will automatically remember previous conversation content and use it for intelligent replies.

This improvement not only enhances the coherence of conversations but also significantly boosts user experience.

At the same time, OpenAI has taken into account users' privacy needs by offering a one-time chat option that does not save chat history.

Users can choose whether to save chat content based on their own needs, allowing them to flexibly control the retention and sharing of personal information.

Previously, users who chose not to contribute conversation data for model training were unable to view their chat history. However, with this update, that restriction has been lifted.

Regardless of whether users choose to contribute data, they can now freely access their chat history, reviewing every interaction with ChatGPT.

Currently, this update is live on the web version of ChatGPT and will soon be rolled out on the mobile version. OpenAI will continue to strive to provide users with a more convenient, intelligent, and secure conversational experience. s_4bd1e15bd8504ba7814b33f524d723af.png
