Karen North, a media studies professor at the University of Southern California, interprets that TikTok's development of a photo-sharing app doesn't mean videos are no longer the primary focus of content creation. However, TikTok also wants to appeal to the majority of people who don't enjoy videos or being recorded.
Furthermore, TikTok is continuously exploring and experimenting with new content formats. For instance, the company is testing videos of up to 30 minutes in length, as well as text post features similar to X and Threads. These initiatives aim to further enrich TikTok's content ecosystem and meet the needs of different users.
