On March 13th, according to official announcements from CCTV, the 34th annual "3.15" Gala is set to go live on CCTV Finance Channel at 8 p.m. on March 15th.
This year's gala, themed "Building Integrity, Sharing Security Together," will focus on areas such as fire safety, food safety, financial security, and data security.
The event aims to strengthen consumer rights protection, improve the consumer environment, enhance the quality of goods and services, promote consumer confidence, unleash consumption potential, and safeguard a better life.
Journalists from "3.15" will investigate illegal activities in the consumer market, such as food enterprises operating in violation of regulations despite repeated penalties, and the marketing tactics behind exorbitantly priced consumer goods. They will also expose internet data falsification issues, reveal methods used to evade regulation, and expose new types of online fraud.
The gala is jointly hosted by various government departments and agencies including the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the National Medical Products Administration, and the China Consumers Association.
Last year's gala uncovered issues such as flavored rice, unauthorized beauty injections, substandard electric bicycle helmets, and the use of fake viewers in live streaming rooms.
