On March 15th, it was revealed during tonight's CCTV 3.15 Evening Gala that there are non-standard fire extinguishers circulating in the market.
According to the report, many fire extinguishers available on the market fail to meet national standards. Sales personnel openly admit that there are extinguishers priced at 30 CNY per bottle, but they cannot guarantee effectiveness in extinguishing fires. In fact, they may even exacerbate the situation, making the fire grow larger instead of extinguishing it.
According to the information provided, there are currently two main specifications in the market for fire extinguishers: "standard" and "non-standard". The "standard" type complies with national standards and is priced at $40 per unit. On the other hand, the "non-standard" type is priced at $30 but does not meet national standards. These non-standard fire extinguishers have a phosphorus dihydrogen ammonium content of only 20%.
According to the Chinese national standard GB4066-2017, the main component of ABC dry powder fire extinguishers is monoammonium phosphate, with a concentration of 75%.
Data indicates that there are currently 8,400 fire extinguisher-related enterprises in China. In terms of regional distribution, Jiangsu, Hebei, and Shandong have the highest numbers of such enterprises, with 840, 800, and 710 respectively.
In the realm of businesses involved in fire extinguisher operations, 8.94% of such enterprises have encountered legal litigation, 9.69% have faced operational irregularities, and 3.77% have been subject to administrative penalties.
