According to a report by Canalys released on April 9, pulsestacks, following IDC, another market research firm, has also unveiled the global PC shipment report for the first quarter of 2024. It indicates that the total shipments of desktops and laptops reached 57.2 million units, marking a year-on-year increase of 3.2%.
The shipment volume of notebook computers (including mobile workstations) increased by 4.2% to reach 45.1 million units, while the shipment volume of desktop computers (including desktop workstations) remained relatively stable, only decreasing by 0.4% to 12.1 million units.
Although the growth is modest, it underscores the continued recovery in demand for personal computers across various segments, supported by factors such as the Windows 11 update and AI support in personal computers. This year's shipment volume is expected to see a more significant rebound.
In the first quarter of 2024, Lenovo led the personal computer market with a 24% market share, achieving a strong growth of 8% with shipments of 13.7 million units of laptops and desktops.
HP, ranking second, had a mediocre performance with shipments of 12 million units. Dell remained third, but experienced a slight decline in shipments by 2%.
Apple, driven by the launch of the new MacBook Air product at the end of this quarter, ranked fourth with a growth rate of 2.5%. Acer entered the top five with shipments of 3.7 million personal computers.
