Compared to the current model, there haven't been significant changes in appearance. However, its most notable difference lies in its powertrain, which features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine combined with an electric motor to form a plug-in hybrid system. This marks the debut of a green-plate version for the Buick GL8.
According to official sources, the all-new Buick GL8 hybrid version is equipped with General Motors' new generation PHEV intelligent electric hybrid system, with a comprehensive range of over 1000 kilometers.
Moreover, the system's battery is developed to Otten Energy standards, boasting a lifespan of over 3300 cycles.
In terms of performance, the new car's 0-100 kilometers acceleration time has been improved by 15%, with more power and lower fuel consumption.
Reportedly, the Buick GL8 has long been the "sales champion" in the domestic MPV market, but its dominant position has been challenged since the launch of the BYD Tang D9.
The Tang D9 achieved sales of 119,182 units last year, defeating the Buick GL8 for the first time and becoming the best-selling MPV in China.
Now, with the launch of the plug-in hybrid version, the Buick GL8 is entering into direct competition with the Tang D9 DM-i. Whether it can reclaim the title of "China's MPV leader" remains to be seen, awaiting the verdict from the market.
