BEIJING, April 29 (Xinhua) - Beijing Foreign Studies University and Social Sciences Academic Press jointly released the "British Blue Book: UK Development Report (2022-2023)" on the 29th. The Blue Book points out that in the academic year 2022-2023, British university education shows a focus on utilizing artificial intelligence technology, greatly benefiting from the economic contributions of international students, and emphasizing the employability of graduates.

The Blue Book states that these characteristics are crucial for enhancing teaching quality and student development, reflecting the proactive measures taken by British universities in the face of globalization and digital challenges.

On the research front, in the academic year 2022-2023, the British government and universities continued to advance cooperation with the EU's important research frameworks, early preparations for a new round of research assessments, rich outcomes in research investment, and collaboration with the industry. Despite facing challenges such as funding and technology transfer in research, overall, British universities demonstrate rich research outcomes, sufficient funding, extensive collaboration, and a culture that encourages innovation.

The Blue Book also notes that facing the dual impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and Brexit, financial crises are a common challenge for British universities in recent years. Main reasons include the lack of EU research project funding, increased operational costs due to inflation, diversion of international student tuition fees to compensate for insufficient domestic student fees, inadequate government funding, and some universities lacking efficient leadership and management.
