It is reported that Xiaomi Group stood out among numerous innovative technological achievements with its world-leading research and development capabilities in intelligent imaging technology. Together with Tsinghua University and Extreme Vision Technology, they won the "First Prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award" for the achievement in "Key Technologies and Applications of Mobile Terminal Imaging Systems."
The "Beijing Science and Technology Award" is a provincial-level scientific and technological award established by the Beijing Municipal People's Government, involving top universities, research institutes, and other entities in the evaluation process. It is widely recognized as one of the most authoritative awards in the field of science and technology.
It is worth mentioning that projects awarded first prize or above can be nominated by Beijing Municipality for the "National Science and Technology Award" selection.
In 2021, Xiaomi collaborated with top domestic universities and technology companies to establish the Beijing Engineering Research Center for Intelligent Image Processing. This center focuses on AI-ISP chips, machine vision, and new imaging technologies, achieving a series of significant results.
In May 2023, Xiaomi's camera algorithm team achieved remarkable success at the most influential international top academic conferences in the field of computer vision, CVPR 2023-MIPI and CVPR 2023-NTIRE, winning 4 championships, 1 runner-up, and 2 third places.
In September 2023, a technology achievement appraisal committee composed of academicians, domain experts, and others recognized that "the technology of this achievement is complex, with a high research difficulty, strong innovation, and overall at the international advanced level. Technologies such as full-scene autofocus based on clustered upright long-focus floating lenses and low-light photography with multi-scale feature fusion based on Raw images have reached the international leading level."
Currently, Xiaomi holds over 1400 global patents in imaging technology, with over 1700 global patent applications.
