On May 28th, it was reported by the media that the construction of China's northernmost high-speed railway, the Harbin-Yichun High-Speed Railway (connecting Harbin to Yichun), has successfully laid the first pair of 500-meter-long steel rails at the track laying site from Tieling City to Yichun in Heilongjiang Province. This milestone event signifies the official commencement of the track laying phase for this high-speed railway project.

The Harbin-Yichun High-Speed Railway consists of the Harbin-Tieling section and the Tieling-Yichun section. Currently, track laying construction has begun on the Tieling-Yichun section, while the Harbin-Tieling section has entered a crucial phase of beam erection and station building.

As an extension of China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network and the Beijing-Harbin—Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao corridor, the Harbin-Yichun High-Speed Railway is not only geographically unique but also the highest latitude high-speed railway under construction in China. It traverses an area with the largest annual temperature difference and is the first high-speed railway to cross a region with perennially frozen ground.

Starting from Harbin City in Heilongjiang Province, the line passes through Suihua City and ultimately reaches Yichun City, with a total length of 318 kilometers and a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The Harbin-Yichun High-Speed Railway includes nine stations such as Harbin, Harbin North, Hulan North, Xinglongzhen West, Suihua South, Qing'an South, Tieling, Riyuexia, and Yichun West.

It is expected that once the entire Harbin-Yichun High-Speed Railway is completed and operational, the travel time for passenger trains between Harbin and Yichun will be significantly reduced from the current approximately 7 hours to just around 2 hours, greatly enhancing the transportation efficiency between the two cities and providing passengers with a more convenient and faster travel option. s_e56fdb1b029e4091b8c84442388708ae.png
