By 2030, BMW aims for battery-electric vehicles to account for over 50% of global annual deliveries, with a projected total of over 10 million electric vehicles delivered worldwide. Technology-wise, the new generation models will feature the sixth-generation eDrive electric drive system and new-generation lithium-ion battery cells, with energy density increased by over 20%, range increased by 30%, and charging speed increased by 30%.
In terms of digital experience, the new generation models will come equipped with the new BMW iDrive human-machine interaction system, providing users with an intelligent and interactive experience.
For intelligent driving, the Level 3 autonomous driving function has been approved by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority and has already begun localized R&D in China.
Production-wise, the new generation models will be produced at the new Debrecen plant in Hungary from July 2025. Going forward, BMW will continuously increase its investment in China, continuously enhance its strategic position in the Chinese market, and support the high-quality development of the Chinese automobile industry with product and technological innovation.
