On May 1st, the third Bilibili Documentary Open Week officially kicked off.

Bilibili, in collaboration with People's Daily Digital Communication, People's Entertainment, China News Video, Southern Metropolis Daily, and other media outlets, opened up more than 3000 documentary works to the public. During the May Day holiday, they provided rich and high-quality documentary content for workers and young people across the country. s_672b3ee69f5a48238aaebb060beb5f75.png The documentary library for this Open Week also maintains the high-quality and diverse characteristics of the previous two events. The library includes popular works produced by Bilibili such as "A Bite of Life," "Land of the Gods," and "Second Life," as well as classic masterpieces from home and abroad like "Green Planet," "Our Planet," "The Silk Road," and "A Bite of China Season 1," along with new acclaimed works like "Food Odyssey 2" and "First Meal 2," covering a wide range of fields including nature, culture, history, technology, cuisine, and animals.

Beyond the library, Bilibili has invited the top 100 content creators from various fields such as knowledge, technology, and food, like "Foodie Dao," "Teacher Songhao Official," and "Hardcore Half Buddha," to recommend high-quality documentary works to the audience in a fun and engaging way based on their preferences and characteristics. For instance, content creator "Hunyuan Rysn" dominates the Bilibili music section by playing the "rogue instrument" suona, but recommends the documentary "The Quiet World" related to white noise to fans, showcasing a unique approach.

The collaboration between Bilibili content creators and documentary content exemplifies Bilibili's concrete manifestation as a content community platform, integrating its PUGV ecosystem with OGV content. Content creators recommend quality content to users, which in turn drives user feedback and interaction, creating a positive cycle within the community ecosystem.

It is worth noting that this year, Bilibili's Documentary Open Week has collaborated with multiple offline venues for the first time.

Facing cultural consumers, Bilibili has opened its documentary library for free at national museums for long-term offline screenings. The initial batch of cooperating museums includes Jiangxi Museum, Tianjin Museum, Sichuan Museum, among others. The offline screening works are intentionally closely related to the museum's content. Additionally, Bilibili and the museums have launched limited commemorative ticket activities to attract visitors for a memorable experience. Beyond libraries, Bilibili has also partnered with several well-known regional bookstores like Century Duo Yun Bookstore and Da Yin Bookstore to create documentary-themed events.

In addition to cultural venues, Bilibili's Open Week also covers various lifestyle and entertainment scenes. Bilibili has partnered with hundreds of well-known livehouses, bars, restaurants, gyms, and hotels nationwide to display high-quality documentary posters and showcase documentary content offline. For example, during the "Lie Down Lifestyle Festival" held at the Yado Hotel in Nantong, Jiangsu, works like "Land of the Gods" and "The Quiet World" from Bilibili were screened live, enriching the public's cultural and entertainment experiences.

Since 2022, the Documentary Open Week has become a signature platform event for Bilibili, connecting online and offline audiences with high-quality content and engaging activities, attracting more attention to documentary content. Documentaries are the second-largest professional content category on Bilibili, making it the largest platform for viewing and producing documentaries in China and one of the leading platforms for documentary content nationwide.

Data shows that since 2017, Bilibili has produced over 150 works and aired nearly 5000 documentary episodes. Watching documentaries on Bilibili, interacting in the barrage and comment sections, has become a daily habit for documentary viewers.

In 2023, over 162 million users watched documentaries on Bilibili. At the second Documentary Release Conference on Bilibili, Li Ni, Vice Chairman and COO of Bilibili, mentioned that in times of uncertainty, people crave certainty. In an era where truth and falsehood are hard to distinguish, authenticity has become a scarce commodity. Documentaries, as one of the longest-lasting and most stable forms of content in human history, with their real value and emotional value, will bring hope and confidence to the public.
