Beijing University International Cultural Month 2024 Kicks Off

On April 27, 2024, the Beijing University International Cultural Month kicked off at Beijing Language University. On the same day, the 19th World Culture Festival of Beijing Language University kicked off with great fanfare. Young people and representatives from various sectors from 103 countries and regions gathered at the university to experience the infinite charm of cultural integration and listen to the harmonious symphony of the world's pulse.

After 21 years of accumulation and continuous innovation, the World Culture Festival has become an important occasion for the coexistence and symbiosis of diverse cultures. It serves as a significant platform for showcasing the unique cultures of different countries, offering international students a vital perspective to understand Chinese culture, and acting as a key showcase for the cultural development of Beijing Language University. Starting from 2023, the festival will be included as a part of the Zhongguancun Forum's supporting activities.

Foreign diplomats attending the event included Nasser Busaidi, the Ambassador of Oman to China, and Harold Hoyte, the Ambassador of Barbados to China. Also present were Yang Ruiguang, a Level One Inspector from the Foreign Affairs Office of the NPC Standing Committee, Yang Jun, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Education Association for International Exchange, and Feng Xiwen, Minister of the Beijing Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao. The opening ceremony was also attended by representatives from the embassies of Mexico, Samoa, Vietnam, and South Sudan in China.

In his address, Duan Peng stated that the World Culture Festival of Beijing Language University has witnessed 21 years of friendship between Chinese and international students, creating a stage for multiculturalism and coexistence, and building a bridge for exchanges and mutual learning among world civilizations, vividly demonstrating the active practice of building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Qi Huichao, member of the Standing Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department of Haidian District, expressed in her speech that the World Culture Festival promotes the collision and mutual understanding of young people from various countries, sowing the seeds of friendship in the broader field of human civilization. In the future, Haidian District will work together with Beijing Language University and other universities on College Road to establish a high-quality youth diplomatic platform for mutual learning, mutual respect, and mutual trust, to gather a broader global youth force for building a community with a shared future for humanity.

The parade team composed of students from various countries marked the beginning of the 19th World Culture Festival. Hundreds of Chinese and international students dressed in distinctive ethnic costumes, singing and dancing, showcasing their youthful vigor. The parade team set off from the east gate of the school and proceeded towards the athletics field via Wutong Avenue.

In the Chinese Culture Exhibition Area, visitors experienced cultural treasures such as silk screen printing, water rubbing techniques, Hanfu makeup, traditional sports, and more, immersing themselves in the profound heritage of excellent traditional Chinese culture.

The Student Service Area included numerous employers, offering sections on job recruitment, corporate culture promotion, displays of Sino-foreign cooperative education programs, rural revitalization themes, and more, providing students with firsthand assistance in employment, internships, and educational consultations.

The Educational Achievements Exhibition Area in front of the library, based on the characteristics of Beijing Language University and practical experience, introduced the school's enrollment policies, provided consultation services, and offered campus tour explanations for parents and students, showcasing the school's distinctive educational features in a three-dimensional manner.

Simultaneously, the Beijing Language University World Culture Festival's Hainan branch was held for the first time at the Hainan Lingshui Li'an International Education Innovation Experimental Zone.
