The Beijing area has introduced a new service allowing for "online ordering of medications with individual medical insurance payment," as reported by the Beijing News and Shell Financial News on May 26. Currently, this service is only available through the JD platform. This move fills the gap in Beijing where online purchases of medications could not be paid for using medical insurance.
According to sources, more than 10 pharmacies have officially enabled online medical insurance payments, all of which are offline designated medical insurance pharmacies located in various districts such as Dongcheng, Xicheng, Haidian, and Shunyi. Industry insiders in the pharmacy sector mentioned that the number of stores offering online medical insurance payments will rapidly increase in the future, potentially covering the entire Beijing area soon.
Upon investigation, it was found that local insured individuals in Beijing can open the JD app, search for "Beijing Medical Insurance," enter the medical insurance drug purchasing section, set the delivery address, and then view nearby pharmacies supporting online medical insurance payments. By selecting medications labeled with "medical insurance payment" in the store, placing an order, and choosing "Beijing medical insurance personal account payment," users can proceed to authorize the medical insurance electronic voucher online through Alipay, utilizing their personal medical insurance account balance for payment. After successful payment, users will be prompted to return to the JD app, confirm the payment completion, and have JD handle the delivery.
