On April 14th, according to media reports, Anzhen Hospital held its 40th anniversary academic conference. Zhang Hongjia, the secretary of the Anzhen Hospital Party Committee, stated that in recent years, Anzhen Hospital has actively built a high-quality clinical biobank. It has now established a unified, open, and shared biobank that complies with internationally recognized standards. This biobank is also the world's largest cardiovascular clinical sample library.
It is reported that Anzhen Hospital has collected and stored over 297,000 blood samples, more than 2,450 tissue samples, and over 20,000 clinical data sets. In the future, this biobank will incubate a batch of clinical research achievements.
At the same time, Anzhen Hospital is the national clinical research center for cardiovascular diseases. It actively promotes the construction of sub-centers and cooperative units of the National Center for Clinical Medicine Research on Cardiovascular Diseases. It has now established a nationwide collaborative innovation network for cardiovascular diseases, with contracts signed with 79 cooperative hospitals.
The hospital has also jointly established medical-enterprise joint laboratories with innovative enterprises to carry out innovative cooperation in testing, equipment, artificial intelligence, and other fields, promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
According to data, Anzhen Hospital was founded in 1984 and has achieved leapfrog development from "major specialty, small comprehensive" to "strong specialty, major comprehensive," and then to "strong specialty, excellent comprehensive" over the past 40 years.
Currently, the hospital has one national key discipline and five national clinical key specialties. In 2023, the outpatient and emergency department had more than 2.3 million visits, with 115,700 discharged patients. The hospital performed over 50,000 intracardiac interventions and more than 20,000 cardiac surgeries, ranking among the top in China in terms of scale and quality of cardiac surgeries for three consecutive years. This year, the Tongzhou campus of the hospital will commence operations.
