With no direct comparisons, leaks, or teasers, Baojun hosted an unveiling event in Chengdu.
The event was led by Zhou Xin, Deputy General Manager of the SAIC-GM-Wuling brand division. Perhaps better known by his Weibo handle "Zhou Jinkai," Zhou Xin admitted to being "extremely nervous" for this event.
The latest offerings from the Baowu brand include the new 2024 models of the Baowu Yueye and Yueye PLUS, along with a preview of two new SUVs. The 2023 Baowu Yueye is priced at 80,800 CNY and 90,800 CNY, while the Yueye PLUS ranges from 93,800 CNY to 103,800 CNY.
In addition to introducing new members to the Yueye family, Baowu also unveiled the Tianyu Architecture, touted as the "world's first electric and intelligent architecture defined by people's needs."
2024 is proclaimed as a big year for the Baowu brand, with more new products on the horizon. The Tianyu Architecture covers full-size vehicle models and is designed around user-centric scenarios and demands, offering a new cross-platform architecture tailored to user needs and driving experiences.
Prior to the vehicle launch, Baowu introduced the Tianyu Architecture, the world's first electric and intelligent automotive architecture defined by people's needs. It is a new architecture developed around user-centric driving scenarios and demands, covering full-size vehicle models from A00 to C class, divided into S, M, and D platforms according to different user groups' travel needs.
The products under the S platform cover a size range of 2500mm to 3500mm, focusing on "personal small commuter vehicles." Their core scenarios include commuting to and from work and urban social activities. Both the current and 2024 models of the Joy Yue are built on the S platform.
The M platform is dedicated to "mainstream medium-sized commuter vehicles," with a size range of 3500mm to 4600mm. The newly launched Joy Yue Plus is born from this platform.
Targeting young families, the M platform emphasizes economy, offering users spacious interiors, long range, and good power for a high-value driving experience. It meets users' diverse driving needs across various scenarios.
The D platform focuses on "all-scenario household cars", with dimensions ranging from 4600mm to 5000mm. Targeting large families with diverse usage scenarios, vehicles under the D platform will integrate spacious interiors, luxurious quality, worry-free range, and practical technology, providing a comprehensive driving experience for various situations.
It is reported that the first five-seater all-scenario intelligent SUV under the Tianyu Architecture D platform will be officially launched in the third quarter of this year, with a six-seater model set to debut in the fourth quarter.
Without a doubt, Baojun is no longer content with just making subcompact cars; their SUV lineup, including five-seaters and even six-seaters, seems to harbor some ambitious aspirations.
The Plus isn't just bigger.
Since it's the Baojun E300 family launch event, it's only natural that new vehicles are on the agenda.
The Baojun E300 Plus is positioned as a small electric SUV. Compared to last year's E300, the most noticeable change in the new model is its increase in size.
Specifically, the E300 Plus measures 3996mm in length, 1760mm in width, and 1726mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2560mm. It boasts a ground clearance of 150mm when fully loaded and a turning radius of 5.35m.
Prior to this, the dimensions of the Yue Plus were 338116851721mm, with a wheelbase of only 2110mm. Whether in body size or wheelbase, the Yue Plus is larger than the three-door variant.
Compared to the three-door version, the Yue Plus features an elongation between the B-pillar and C-pillar, forming a five-door, five-seat body structure. Additionally, it adopts a dual-tone design, enhancing the overall exterior with a more fashionable and dynamic appearance.
As for the interior, the Yue Plus largely continues the family-oriented design of the Baojun brand. It incorporates a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, complemented by an independent large-size LCD instrument panel and a floating central control screen, along with rounded rectangular air conditioning vents.
The new car is equipped with a 41.9-degree divine refining battery, and the CLTC pure electric range can reach 401km. It adopts front-mounted single-motor drive with a total power of 75kW and a maximum speed of 150km/h.
But the Yue Plus is not just bigger, it's also smarter. Baojun likes to bring down the price of smart technology and become "the people's technology."
So, following the Baojun Cloud, they once again cooperated with DJI Car to jointly develop the latest generation of Lingmou intelligent driving. Officials say it doesn't rely on high-precision maps and can be "used nationwide and work well nationwide."
The high-speed intelligent navigation system can be used nationwide, with delivery upon listing, and activation upon delivery, solely relying on BEV perception and in-vehicle navigation information.
Moreover, the Yuet also Plus is the only mass-produced and delivered model under 200,000 CNY with city memory navigation. With just one learning session, it can be set up and used, covering all urban driving scenarios with smart features like straight-through intersections, left/right turns or U-turns, intelligent detours, proactive lane changes, and other mainstream NOA functionalities.
The Baojun Yueyue Plus can remember up to 10 routes, with each route being as long as 100 kilometers.
Aside from being the only model in the 100,000 CNY price range equipped with advanced intelligent driving, the Baojun Yueyue Plus is also the only model under 200,000 CNY that features memory navigation. It also includes functions such as memory parking and 30-second efficient intelligent parking.
Whether the DJI's in-car intelligent driving solution carried by Baojun is groundbreaking remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure: it offers top-notch value for money. Who would have thought that a 100,000 CNY car would come equipped with advanced intelligent driving? Who would have believed it?
